They serve a good, solid breakfast. I have only gotten my food "to go" so I can't comment on the service. However, I am a fan of anyplace that I can get a good breakfast for a reasonable price with a smile.

Long time fan - usually breakfast on Sunday, but also an occasional dinner on Wednesday. Breakfast is make your own skillet for me - always hot and delicious. Dinner is tilapia with baked potato. Both are a can't miss.

On a 6 hour road trip from n/w Chicago to Santa Clause, Ind we stopped at a Harley store to look around and asked them for a suggestion for breakfast. Even though New Day Cafe was in the opposite direction, we doubled back and we were not disappointed. My daughter and I split a veggie omelette with crispy hash browns . Food was delicious and service excellent. Next time in I'll have to try the fruits of the forest pie. Definitely worth the money!

My husband and I love to go out for breakfast at local places when we are traveling. New Day Cafe was clean and looked inviting when we first walked in. I ordered a cheese omelet with cheddar and swiss and sliced tomatoes on the side. The omelet was cold and the cheese on the inside was lumpy and hard, not melted like it should have been. The tomatoes were dry and had a pale pink color, unappealing to look at and worse to taste. The rye toast was fresh but only a fourth of it was buttered which left the rest very dry. I tried to eat it, but finally gave up and told the waitress. I ordered a waffle instead which was served hot and crispy on the outside, but mealy on the inside. I am not from Terre Haute, but if I ever pass through again, I will try the IHOP next door instead. In their defense, the waitress was very apologetic and accomodating. This is the first review I have ever written.

Bacon was thin, like Dennys. Trust me, it's worth the extra cost to serve quality bacon. Biscuits and gravy were substandard. Too much sausage, too much flour. Too little flavor. Eggs were typical. Coffee good. Waitress was friendly. Overall nothing to write home about. Standard diner in a small midwestern town. I probably won't be back.

We came here based on the Yelp reviews. This seemed to be the best breakfast place in town. We were not disappointed! Great food, nice staff and a good price. Definitely worth the trip!

I had a server just treated me bad while I was there. Rolled her eyes when I asked for something, had attitude in her voice, very unattentive. I watched her with her other tables and she was sweet and attentive to them. So I took that as why give the young 21 yr old good service because they don't tip. Mistake on her part, I'm a server to and always leave 50% I left this women nothing. I gave this place 3 stars because the food is great the prices are fair and all the other servers I had were great.

We had an early dinner there today and enjoyed it. The New Day Café has a diner ambiance (including lots of booths) and a good-sized menu. My husband had a chicken Philly sandwich and I had pecan-crusted tilapia. His came with a cup of soup (he chose the creamy chicken rice) and I chose the salad (which consisted solely of iceberg lettuce, which was therefore basically a waste). I chose the hash browns for the potato option and he added them to his meal for only $1. My meal also included a vegetable, but the only option was mixed vegetables and they were canned. We were also given a huge basket of crackers. For dessert, I had the butterscotch pudding and my husband had the tapioca pudding. The meal cost $20.49 (including tax, but before the tip). In addition, the service was very good (pleasant & prompt) and the restroom was very clean.

I'm a Becky's or Bev's gal when I visit my folks in Terre Haute- I never thought I'd eat elsewhere until a Saturday gave me reason to branch out (both my regular places are closed Saturdays). New Day Cafe is a rose among thorns, tucked in between chain behemoths on 3rd avenue, a stone's throw from 70. It looks like it might have been a tiny Taco Bell back in the day, but I have no idea. The place has been lovingly made-over into a quintessentially Midwestern Diner. We had an incredibly reasonable, excellent breakfast including the kind of potatoes that are sliced perfectly & then allowed to get really brown & crusty on a griddle (my idea of breakfast heaven). The omelets are the kind that have that "what IS that?" quality that takes them to a whole other level- it's not just egg in there... maybe some flour...? Very thin & crepe-like, wrapped around exactly the right amount of ingredients-- I live in a city FILLED with breakfast joints & honestly, this is one of the best omelets I've had in recent memory. Portion sizes are just right & you don't leave feeling like you licked a dirty grill or that you've got a cup of grease sitting at the bottom of your stomach. Coffee is decent (but not noteworthy)-- that's the only thing that kept this place from 5 stars for me. Excellent, attentive (but not oppressive) service. We will always come here on Saturdays!

After spending six weeks traveling around the west, we were bound to hit a bad restaurant. My husband ordered an egg white omelet and home ("American") fries and toast. The toast was just slightly warm, however, the omelet and potatoes were good. I, unfortunately ordered a salad, the supposedly delicious catfish and a baked potato (because the mashed are instant.) The iceberg lettuce salad was just that - lettuce. No onions, ONE cucumber slice, and ONE cherry tomato. Sad. A large basket of crackers came along with my salad. Not impressed with packaged crackers. The entree arrived. The potato was slightly warm and very underbaked. I sent it back. The green beans were canned and tepid. Frozen beans dressed up with some toasted almonds would have been good. What kind of restaurant serves cold canned beans? The catfish, normally a rather thick fillet, had obviously been starved for months as it was the thinnest fillet of fish I've eve seen. The breading outweighed the fish. The second potato arrived and while hot, was still a bit undercooked but I ate it because I was very hungry. Needless to say, if you are forced to eat here, go for the breakfasts!
